Leslie Dumas Dorsett

JACKSON – Leslie Dumas Dorsett went to be with the Lord Monday, April 16, 2007, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 94.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street with the Rev. John Pulley officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home and will resume at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Mrs. Dorsett is survived by her son, Michael Alan Dorsett and his wife, Faulba, of Vicksburg; granddaughter, Susan Michelle Roby of Jackson; grandsons, Matthew Alan Dorsett of Beaver, Pa., and Benjamin F. Crouch of Port Gibson; great-grandsons, Hunter Ray Williams of Jackson, Spencer Alan Dorsett of Beaver and Brady Franklin Crouch of Port Gibson; various stepgrandchildren; and other granddaughters and great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Dorsett; a son, Leslie Ray Dorsett; her parents, Henry L. and Trudy Dumas; and three sisters, Lovie Mae Dumas Halford, Addie Lucille Dumas Martin and Arye Vardaman Dumas Walters.

Mrs. Dorsett was a native of Leake County, Miss. She lived in Jackson several years before making her home in Durant, Miss., where she was a member of the Durant Garden Club, Cub Scout leader, President of the 20th Century Club and superintendent of the Jr. Sunday School Department for 15 years.

She was a member of the Eastern Star since July 1944 and served in various capacities throughout the years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Durant and became a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in 1969 when she made her residence in Jackson.

Pallbearers are Matthew A. Dorsett, Benjamin F. Crouch, Hunter Ray Williams, Bill D. Roby, George Lee and Wayne Ball.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Marty Webber, Dr. Hildon Sessums, Grady Soloman, Gary Bouchillon, Earl Browning and David Landrum.

Memorials may be made in Leslie’s name to &#8220Go the Distance” Building Fund, c/o Broadmoor Baptist Church, 1531 Highland Colony Parkway, Madison, MS 39110.

Thelma Gordon

EDWARDS – Thelma Gordon died Friday, April 13, 2007, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 88.

A homemaker, Mrs. Gordon was a resident of Edwards.

Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Robert Gray Jr.

TALLULAH – Services for Robert Gray Jr. were at 11 this morning, April 17, 2007, at First Kingdom M.B. Church in Tallulah. Burial followed at New Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Beckwith Golden Gate Funeral Home. Visitation was from noon until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gray died Thursday, April 12, 2007, in Tallulah. He was 49.

He was a resident of Tallulah.

He is survived by his mother, Rosie Lee Gray of Vicksburg.
