Talmadge A. Crane
NEWELLTON – Services for Talmadge A. Crane will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Newellton with the Rev. J. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the church.
Mr. Crane died Monday, June 4, 2007, at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette, La. He was 92.
Mr. Crane was born in Forest, La., and had lived in Newellton for 74 years. He was a retired farmer and a charter member of Newellton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Melville Crane of LaFayette; three sons, Dale Crane of Pineville, La., Keith Crane of St. Joseph and Dr. Kirk Crane of Lafayette; one daughter, Gloria Marquis of Alvin, Texas; one sister, Ruby Cook of Shreveport, La.; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Timothy Hardmon Jr.
Services for Timothy Hardmon Jr., infant son of Timothy Hardmon Sr. and LaShonda Berry of Vicksburg, will be at noon today at Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Gregory Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Babyland at City Cemetery.
Infant Hardmon died Monday, June 4, 2007, at his home.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Thomas Hardmon of Vicksburg; three sisters, Kanessiah Sanders, Brishawna Bell and Brianna Bell, all of Vicksburg; maternal grandparents, Dorothy Berry of Vicksburg, Larry Allen and Willie Jones, both of Las Vegas; paternal grandparents, Irene Hardmon of Lake Providence and James Burks of Las Vegas.
Jamie Lynn Lee
Services for Jamie Lynn Lee will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Lee died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 28.
Ms. Lee was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Alzonia Baxter; and paternal grandparents, Samuel Lee and Estelle Lee.
She is survived by her parents, James Lee and Georgia Baxter Lee, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Sharon Gidron and Alicia Lee, both of Vicksburg; and maternal grandmother, Georgia Baxter of Vicksburg.
Billy Ray Powell
Services for Billy Ray Powell will be at noon Sunday at Mount Carmel M.B. Church with the Rev. Franklin Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell died Monday, June 4, 2007, at his residence. He was 51.
Mr. Powell was a former employee of the Department of Juvenile Justice in Jacksonville, Fla. A 1973 graduate of South Vicksburg High School, Mr. Powell later graduated from Willberforce University in 1983 where he majored in political science. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Sr. and Regina Tolliver Powell; his maternal grandparents, Hazel Demby and William Fox; and his paternal grandparents, Lula West Johnson and Andrew Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Tonia Cameron Powell of Vicksburg; two sons, Regis R. Powell and Michael J. Powell, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Harry Powell Jr. of Atlanta and Michael J. Powell of Vicksburg; and two sisters, Penny A. Powell of Vicksburg and Brenda J. Powell-Gaskin of Wayneville, Mo.
Louise Smith
Louise “Charlie” Smith died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 85.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her mother, Chestine Harrison; and two sisters, Edna Derby and Inez White.
She is survived by six stepsiblings, Hermee Morgan, Maurice Rivers, Ophelia Garbin, Vanessa Robinson, William Garbin Jr. and Malcolm Garbin; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Zoe Derby, Leona Burnett and Larry Freeman of Vicksburg, Willie Freeman of Dallas, Inez Young of Beverly Hills, and members of the Thomas, Robinson, Wallace, Barnes and Stewart families of Vicksburg.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Sylvester Romeo Walker
Services for Sylvester Romeo Walker will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Triumph Church on North Frontage Road with the Rev. Willie White officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mr. Walker died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at University Medical Center in Jackson, as a result of a drowning accident. He was 18.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Opal W. Masters; and paternal grandparents, Ernest Walker and Lizzie Ree Walker.
He is survived by his parents, Sylvester Walker and Wanda Masters Walker, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Theo Jacquay Walker of Vicksburg; a sister, Sylwanda LaToya Masters of Vicksburg; maternal grandfather, James Masters of Purvis; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
