The Vicksburg Venom have one more chance at being crowned state champions.

The Vicksburg Baseball Association’s 9-year-olds’ all-star team fell to Oak Grove 13-11 on Monday, forcing a deciding championship game today at Shiloh Park in Brandon. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Venom led 9-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning before Oak Grove sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs. OG hit four doubles and took advantage of four Venom errors in the crucial fifth inning.

The Venom scored two runs in their final at-bat to trim the deficit to two runs.

Brayden Stokes had two singles and a pair of RBIs, while Dale Griffith had a single and four RBIs, and Lee Simpson had a single and drove in three runs.
