Marie Elizabeth Davis

Marie Elizabeth Davis died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 88.

Mrs. Davis was born May 29, 1919, in Conway, Ark. She lived in Vicksburg most of her life and had been a resident of Olive Branch Senior Care Center for the last four years.

Mrs. Davis graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy in 1937. She was the first woman to manage the Office Supply Print Shop, retiring after 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Frank Hubbard Davis; her parents, Charles Antoine and Mathilda Antoine Hosemann; and her brother, Albert Antoine.

Mrs. Davis is survived by a son, Danny Frank Davis and his wife, Sue, of Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Donna Davis McDuff and her husband, Linn, of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Tiffany McDuff Keen and her husband, Mike, of Vicksburg, Brian Christian McDuff and his wife, Holly, of Irmo, S.C., Caffey Davis McCarty and her husband, J.B., of Charleston, S.C., and Daniel Bennett Davis of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Will Keen and a third anticipated McCarty great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Revs. P.J. Curley and Ferreolus D’Cruz officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Chris Antoine Jr., Tiny Antoine, Donald Antoine, Charles Antoine, Sonny Keen and Billy Peebles.

Honorary pallbearers will be Linn McDuff, Alan Little, Dr. L.P. Neumann Jr. and the Olive Branch Senior Care administration, nursing staff and aides.

Memorials may be made to Vicksburg Catholic School, 1900 Grove St., Vicksburg, MS 39183.

James Green

James Green died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 92.

Mr. Green was retired from Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member and deacon at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eliza Ann Richardson Green; one son, Harold Lloyd McWade; one sister, Georgia McGloster; and his parents, Louis Green and Mary Washington.

He is survived by a son, James L. Green of Vicksburg; three daughters, Dollie White of Chicago and Sherry Green Fisher and Rosemary Spears, both of Vicksburg; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Annie Mae Webb Hearn

Annie Mae Webb Hearn died Monday, July 30, 2007. She was 92.

Mrs. Hearn was born in Lake Providence to Lucius and Evelyn Webb. With her husband, she owned real estate. She also operated Hearn’s Grocery Store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Abner William Hearn Sr.; and a daughter, Annette Hearn Havard.

She is survived by one son, Abner William Hearn Jr. of Baton Rouge; five daughters, Corrie Ann Hearn Rouser of Pasadena, Calif., Vickie Hearn Espy of Clarksdale, Mamie Hearn King of Henderson, Nev., Albertine &#8220Tina” Hearn James of Bethesda, Md., and Anna Hearn Burnett of Vicksburg; one sister, Evelyn Webb Gamble of Denver, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 805 Monroe St., under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mary John Meeks

Mary John Meeks died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 81.

Mrs. Meeks was a retail worker. She was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church in San Diego, Calif.

She is survived by her husband, Newton Meeks of Vicksburg.

John Parks Jr.

John Parks Jr. died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 67.

Mr. Parks was a former employee of Anderson-Tully Co. He was a member of Holy Hill M.B. Church at Oak Ridge and Big Buck Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Johnnie Mae Monger and Ernestine Hurry.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Rush Parks of Vicksburg; three sons, Freddie Parks of Canton, John Parks III of Vicksburg and Kenny Parks of Michigan, Ind.; seven daughters, Annette Diamond, Barbara Thomas, Sherrylyn Robinson and Sandra Williams, all of Canton, Pamela Shorter and Theresa Parks, both of Vicksburg, and Catherine Parks of Michigan, Ind.; his father and stepmother, John Sr. and Alberta Parks of Canton; two brothers, Robert Parks of Chicago and Randy Parks of Jackson; three sisters, Mary Lee Parks Mann of Canton and Barbara Parks and Ann Parks, both of Jackson; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
