Morris Gray

Services for Morris Gray will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. L. Joseph Jessing, SVD pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at Robbins Funeral Home with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Gray died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at his home. He was 92.

Mr. Gray was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was a former member of the Holy Name Society, former Eucharistic minister and the first parish council president. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Tyner-Ford Post No. 213.

Mr. Gray was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he worked as a district photographer. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gertrude Gray.

Mr. Gray is survived by a son, Morris Gray Jr., of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Ruthie McCoy of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; cousins; and other relatives.

Elaine Kowaluk McKay

Elaine Kowaluk McKay died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 60.

Born in Vicksburg, Elaine was the daughter of the late Nicholas Kowaluk and Helen Langford Kowaluk. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy, Class of 1965, and Mississippi State University, receiving her degree in special education.

Elaine loved and taught many children at Sheltered Acres, Vicksburg, Vicksburg School District, Greenville School District and retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Niles Langford McKay; and a niece, Jeni Kowaluk Thames.

She is survived by a brother, Nicholas L. Kowaluk of Vicksburg; and a nephew, Matthew Kowaluk of Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father P.J. Curley officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home with a wake service at 6 and at St. Paul Catholic Church Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Riley Nelson, Russ Nelson, Kenny McKay, George Scott, Donny Ouzts and Thomas Grant.
