Eddie Lee Boyd

Eddie Lee Boyd died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 68.

Mr. Boyd was a laborer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Boyd and Delilah Walker; and a brother, Gene Boyd.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Boyd of Vicksburg; a daughter, Sharon Boyd Neal of Memphis; a brother, Alvin Boyd of South Carolina; and a sister, Yvette Boyd of Pellaham, Ala.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Hattie Mae Fitzgerald Cole

Hattie Mae Fitzgerald Cole died today, Oct. 15, 2007. She was 84.

She retired from the Vicksburg-Warren Public School System. She was a member of Calvary M.B. Church, where she served on the usher and mother’s board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Lockie Fitzgerald; two brothers, William Fitzgerald Jr. and Charles Fitzgerald; four sisters, Albenna Smith, Mattie Roscoe, Amanda Diggs and Laura Saints; and two children, Julius Cole and Mary Cole.

She is survived by four sons, Willie Cole Sr. of Jackson, Michael Cole of Nashville, Tenn., Danny Cole of Vallejo, Calif., and James Cole of Lufkin, Texas; three daughters, Mattie Cole, Albenna Cole and Bobbie Cole, all of Vicksburg; and 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

Ernest Pitts

Ernest Pitts died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 68.

A native of Tennessee, Mr. Pitts was the son of the late Horace and Bessie Bishop Pitts. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he had served 27 years in the Army Reserve. He retired from Warren County Highway Department.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Velma Ferguson Pitts; a son, Jerry Sanderford; and a brother, Donald Pitts.

Mr. Pitts is survived by two daughters, Dianne Wallace of Vicksburg and Sheila Tarver of Meridian; three sons, Danny Sanderford, Gregory Sanderford and Mickey Sanderford; three brothers, Robert Pitts of Philadelphia, David Pitts of Tupelo and Bill Pitts of Vicksburg; five sisters, Marie Houston of Southaven, Pearl Terry of Ball Knob, Ark., Dot Berryhill of S.C., Daisy Douglas of Vicksburg and Faye Grover of Dallas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at Munford Funeral Home in Millington, Tenn. The number is 901-873-0123. Visitation is from 4 until 6 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home.
