Stringer douses St. Aloysius, 45-7|[11/10/07]

St. Aloysius ended the 2007 football season with a 45-7 loss to Stringer on Friday night.

The Red Devils (6-5) scored 21 first-quarter points and added 10 in the second quarter to take a 31-0 halftime lead.

Justin Hosemann’s 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter provided the only points for the Flashes, who finished the season with a 4-7 record.

Hosemann led all Flashes’ rushers with 86 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown, but Stringer held St. Al to 173 yards in total offense.

Briarfield 16, Marvell 6

The defending Academy A North champion Briarfield Academy Rebels advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a win over Marvell, Ark.

Briarfield is scheduled to play North Delta on Friday night at 7 in second-round action.

Stephen Hernandez kicked a 46-yard field goal for the only points of the first half. Jeffrey Graham scored on a 15-yard run in the third quarter for a 10-0 lead and the Rebels added a 52-yard touchdown run from Jordan Jong to open a 16-0 lead.

Central Hinds 24, WCCA 14

The Cougars advanced to the second round of the Academy playoffs with a win at home on Friday. They will play Huntington, La., on Friday night.

Clinton 26, Provine 18

The Arrows scored a late touchdown to finish second in Region 2-5A.
