Lou Keyes Kirkland

NEWELLTON, La. — Graveside services for Lou Keyes Kirkland will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Legion Cemetery in Newellton with the Rev. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow and will be directed by Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.

Mrs. Kirkland died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Tensas Care and Rehabilitation Center in Newellton. She was 95.

Born in D’Lo, Miss., Mrs. Kirkland had lived in Newellton for eight years. She was a homemaker and a member of a Methodist church in Shreveport.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Ellen Adams Rozell

EDWARDS — Ellen Adams Rozell died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at her home in Edwards. She was 88.

Mrs. Rozell was a lifelong resident of Edwards.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pleasant M.B. Church in Edwards with the Rev. Joseph Boone officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at Bolton Funeral Home and Sunday at the church from noon until the service.

Samuel Clayton Whitehead

CHOUDRANT, La. — Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Clayton Whitehead, age 85, from Choudrant, La., will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, La. Officiating the service will be the Rev. R.C. Smith. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Mr. Whitehead was born Jan. 15, 1922, and passed away Dec. 13, 2007, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Whitehead retired from Vicksburg Concrete after 16 years of service and was an avid race car enthusiast who liked Hot Rods.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Robert and Susie Ann Whitehead; wife, Cleo Whitehead; brothers, Cleo, Clyde and Glen Whitehead; and sisters, Catherine McGrew and Linda Grant.

Mr. Whitehead is survived by a daughter, Joyce Ann Mulkey and husband, Ellis, of Vicksburg; sons, Sandy Whitehead, Alfred Wayne Whitehead Sr. and wife, Mary Lynn, and Ernest “Ernie” Whitehead and wife, Louisa, all of Vicksburg; and the mother of these children, Shirley Faye Whitehead of Vicksburg. He is also survived by son, Michael Clayton Whitehead and wife, Paula, of Los Alamos, N.M.; sisters, Mary Brown and husband, Gerald, of West Monroe, La., Ruby Lyons of Magnolia, Texas, and Faye Hale of Bossier City, La.; sister-in-law, Sybil Whitehead of Shreveport, La.; and best friend, Thomas “Buzzy” Woods and wife, Charlene; and 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Al Whitehead Jr., Clayton Whitehead, Donnie Ray Whitehead, Ben Logan, Donnie Alan Whitehead, Steven Whitehead, Johnathon Whitehead and Thomas “Buzzy” Woods.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
