Robert King Sr.

HERMANVILLE — Services for Robert King Sr. will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Elmo Christian Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Percy Terrell officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the service.

Mr. King died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at River Region Medical Center. He was 68.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Annie Diew-King; a brother, Jerry King Jr.; and a sister, Jereline Flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria King of Port Gibson; four sons, Robert King Jr. of Atlanta, Bernard King of Vicksburg, Johnnie L. King of Jackson, Darryl King of Port Gibson, Lloyd King of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Joseph King of Carlisle; two daughters, Evatta Trice of New Orleans and India King of Savannah, Ga.; a brother, George L. King of Utica; a sister, India Write of San Diego; 17 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ernestine Knight

Ernestine Knight died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge, Ga. She was 68.

Mrs. Knight was a homemaker and a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fal P. Knight Sr; her parents, Robert Davis and Annie Mae Caples Davis; and a brother, Tony Cross.

Surviviors include three sons, Glennis Earl Knight of Vicksburg and Danny Neal Knight and Gregory Lawrence Knight, both of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Debra Ann Knight of Washington, D.C., and Angela Hyde of Stockbridge; a sister, Betty Floyd of Temple Hills, Md.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Clara Ross Mann

Clara Ross Mann died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 57.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, James Ross and James Mann; and her parents, Cecil Craig Allen and Wilroy Allen.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Benjamin Ross of Vicksburg, James Willie Ross of Charksdale and Jamie Ross of Edwards; four daughters, Brindia Ross, Carolyn Ross, Mary Ross and Matilda Ross, all of Vicksburg; 26 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Sidney “Sid” Earl Odom

RIDGELAND — Services for Sidney “Sid” Earl Odom will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Broadmoor Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Carthage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 8 tonight at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison.

Mr. Odom died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was 65.

Born in Rankin County, Mr. Odom had lived in Ridgeland for the past four years and had taught at Madison Central. He had coached basketball at Vicksburg High School, Warren Central High School and Adams Middle School in Grand Prarie, Texas, where he led the team to a city championship several years in a row. He had also taught at Hawaii Baptist Academy. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie R. Odom.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Smith Odom of Ridgeland; a daughter, Allison Odom of Euless, Texas; a son, the Rev. S. Guy Odom of Hickory; his mother, Helen Louise Odom of Madison; a sister, Helon L. Thomas of Madison; a brother, Charlie Rankin Odom, Jr. of Bogue Chitto; and two grandchildren.

Thomas Yarrington Sr.

LYNWOOD, Ill. — Thomas Yarrington Sr. died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at his daughter’s home in Lynwood, Ill. He was 99.

Born in St. Joseph, La., Mr. Yarrington was the son of the late Haze and Ophelia B. Yarrington. He moved to Ann Harbor, Mich., and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church. After moving to Lynwood, he joined Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Yarrington; and a son, Clyde Yarrington.

He is survived by four sons, Thomas Yarrington Jr. of Lynnwood, Wallace Yarrington and Hurdist Yarrington, both of Las Vegas, and Vernon Yarrington of Ann Harbor; two daughters, Ollie Calep of Lynwood and Odessa Mercer of North Carolina; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives, including the Carson family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Magnolia Baptist Church in Newellton, La., under the direction of Tennants Funeral Home in Rayville.
