George R. Harrison
George R. Harrison died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 74.
Mr. Harrison was born in Yazoo City. He had been living in Vicksburg at the time of his death.
Survivors include four sons, Henry Coy Harrison of Utica, Neilson D. Harrison of Vicksburg, Calvin R. Harrison of Lucedale and Nicholas B. Harrison of Birmingham, Ala.; two daughters, Tonya Renee Passons and Penny Sabrina Harrison, both of Yazoo City; his mother, Myrtie Harrison of Yazoo City; two sisters, Mabel Vancleave and Mary Alice Clunan, both of Yazoo City; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel in Yazoo City. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service. Burial will follow.
Barbara Jean Sanders
Barbara Jean Sanders died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 72.
Mrs. Sanders was born in Cotton Valley, La., and had lived in Tallulah most of her life. She was a nurse and a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah.
Survivors include three daughters, Ginger Carter of Delhi, Debbie Sennes of Harrison, Ark., and Cindi Burgess of Green Forest, Ark.; one brother, John Wayne Huckabay of Blairsville, Ga.; three sisters, Shirley Mitchell and Linda Long, both of Shreveport, and Delores Bowling of Mt. Pleasant, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.
Pallbearers are Kevin Long, Tag Ellis, Zack Presley, Jared Croom, Tom Guhr and Gene Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers are John Bowling and Forest Mitchell.
Ray Sasser
Services for Ray Sasser will be at 11 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Mr. Sasser died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 77.
Mr. Sasser was born in Winnsboro, La. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1948 until 1968, and from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Susan M. Sasser of Vicksburg; one son, Jack Tucker of Hewitt, Texas; one daughter, Martha Tucker Hollowell of Vicksburg; three sisters, Jerry Conrad and Ginny Brown, both of Vicksburg, and Jean Young of West Monroe, La.; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Vicki L. Wood
Vicki L. Wood died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008. She was 36.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Diane and Bob Mai of Denham Springs, La.; her father and stepmother, Douglas and Linda Dubisson of Vicksburg; one daughter, Tori Wilson of Denham Springs; one son, Jordan Hudnall of Baton Rouge; one sister, Shannon Dubuisson of North Carolina; one brother, Chad Tanner of Vicksburg; and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services were Sunday under the direction of Seales Funeral Home in Denham Springs. Burial was in Monterey, La.
