Ruth Hilliard

LOUISVILLE — Ruth Hilliard died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Clinton. She was 84.

Mrs. Hilliard was a cafeteria worker at the Louisville School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Hilliard.

She is survived by her daughter, Lora Ann Hilliard of Marietta, Ga.; three sons, Paul M. Hilliard of Vicksburg, Earl Wayne Hilliard of Madison and Sidney E. Hilliard of Louisville; a sister, Adderene Dunn of Columbia; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. The Rev. Brett Golson will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at Nowell Funeral Home Monday evening from 5 to 8.

Jean Pellegal

Jean Pellegal died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 66.

Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Enzley and Mamie Lee Boles Hataway. Mrs. Pellegal was a lover of flowers and followed the NASCAR circuit.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Bill McMurry and Ronnie McMurry.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Pellegal of Vicksburg; two sons, Howard and Tina McMurry of Pinson, Tenn., and James and Anna McMurry of Rheinstein, Germany; six grandchildren, Dean McMurry, Travis McMurry, Kristi McMurry, Jake McMurry, Mallory McMurry and Zoey McMurry; a sister, Martha H. Brooks of Vicksburg; two brothers, Donald Enzley Hataway of Lafayette, La., and Robert Ray Hataway of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters-in-law, Stephanie McMurry and Gail McMurry Horne, both of Jackson, Tenn.; and her beloved dog, Precious.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Clemts, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Dean McMurry, Travis McMurry, Jake McMurry, Calvin Allen, Big E. and Sid Tennington.

Lue Bertha Sutton

Lue Bertha Sutton died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Vicksburg. She was 87.

Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Sutton; her parents; Henry and Virginia Lewis; one sister, Hattie Mae Smith; one grandson, Anthony Wilson Jr.; and one granddaughter, Barbara Porter.

She is survived by a daughter, Jessie Wilson of Chicago; a stepson, Clarence Sutton Jr. of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, including Henry Williams, whom she reared in Vicksburg; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Robbins Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Cauby Cleveland Thrash

Cauby Cleveland Thrash of Redwood died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 92.

Mr. Thrash, a native Scott County, was a resident of Warren County for most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II and retired as a switchman for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna L. Thrash; his son, A.C. “Sonny” Thrash; two daughters, Shirley Roth and Faye C. Wilkinson; two brothers, Alton Gainey and Lavon Gainey.

Mr. Thrash is survived by two daughters, Linda Folden of Redwood and Kay Mackey of Vicksburg; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Talbert officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 this afternoon at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Mackey, Harold McCray, Stephen Roth, Jerry Roth, Leon Thrash and David Thrash.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Patient’s Choice Hospice.
