From staff reports

Only a few raindrops fell on Central Mississippi Tuesday, but the threat of severe weather was enough to postpone one sporting event and cancel another.

The boys’ Class 4A North State soccer championship between Vicksburg and Pearl was pushed back until tonight. The division rivals will meet at 6 p.m. at Pearl High School. Pearl has won three in a row against the Gators, including a pair of 3-0 victories this season. The winner will face Florence in the state championship game Saturday at noon at Clinton High.

While the soccer game must be played, a late-season basketball contest between Warren Central and Northwest Rankin was canceled and will not be made up. No playing dates were left to reschedule. Both teams have games on Friday, and start their division tournaments next week.
