After taking two tough losses in as many days earlier this week, Warren Central coach Dana McGivney is welcoming the chance to get her team back on the field and work on a few things.
She’ll have a few chances this weekend when WC hosts the Lady Vikes Invitational today and Saturday. Warren Central — along with St. Aloysius, Vicksburg, and four other teams — will play three games apiece in the tournament. The first game is today at 4 p.m., when WC hosts St. Al and fireballing pitcher Sarah Franco.
“It’s always good to play, no matter how many you get in. Any time you’re in the atmosphere of watching other teams, and playing, it’s good,” said McGivney, whose Lady Vikes lost 9-2 at Brandon on Monday and made seven errors in a 4-1 loss to Madison Central at home on Tuesday.
Most of the Invitational’s games involving local teams will be tonight. After WC and St. Al meet, the Lady Vikes will play Mangham at 5:15. Vicksburg will then play Rayville, La., at 6:30, and St. Al and Mangham, La., will close out day one at 7:45.
All tournament games have a one-hour time limit.
