Eagles, Rebels in Pearl tonight
Southern Miss and Ole Miss will do battle on the baseball diamond tonight at 7 at Trustmark Park in Pearl.
It will be the second meeting between the two teams this season with Ole Miss taking an earlier decision 8-5.
The Rebels, who lost two of three to Florida over the weekend, slipped to No. 15 in this week’s Baseball America poll. The Rebels are ranked No. 24 in the Collegiate Baseball poll.
Southern Miss (14-7) has won eight of its last nine games.
St. Al game moved to 6:30
St. Aloysius’ showdown with Division 7-1A rival Stringer has been moved to 6:30 p.m. at Bazinsky Field.
The Flashes defeated Stringer 1-0 in the first meeting in February at Stringer. Ryno Martin-Nez pitched a complete-game shutout and the team scored one run in the top of the first inning.
The Flashes and Red Devils met in the playoffs last season with current Southern Miss pitcher Seth Hester leading the Red Devils to a two-game sweep.
Madison Central wins match at Clear Creek
Madison Central shot a 314 to win a high school golf match at Clear Creek Monday.
Warren Central shot a 376. Dylan Bradley led the Vikings with an 89 on the par-72 course. Parker Rutherford shot a 92, while Will Burnett shot a 93 and Rich Phillips shot a 102. WC’s roster consists of three freshmen and two junior high players.
