Ruby W. Bailess
Services for Ruby W. Bailess will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Young, pastor of Hawkins United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Bailess died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Belmont Gardens. She was 99.
She was born in Winnsboro, La., and had lived in Vicksburg since 1936. Mrs. Bailess was the daughter of the late Charles Monroe Wiltshire and Pearl Bell Mathes Wiltshire. She was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church and the Crusaders Sunday School Class.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Bailess Ivey of Brandon; a son, Oren D. Bailess Sr. of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.O. Bailess Jr.; a grandson, Oren D. Bailess Jr.; four sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Bailess, John Newton, Johnny Mims, George Nasif Jr., Jason Bailess and Steve Dunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Crusaders Sunday School Class of Hawkins United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Hawkins United Methodist Church, 3736 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
Florine Conway
LAS VEGAS — Florine Conway died Monday, March 24, 2008, in Las Vegas. She was 81.
Mrs. Conway was a retired school teacher and a member of Clover Valley M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Conway; a brother, Isiah Fuller; and a sister, Willena Buck.
Survivors include three sons, Rufus Conway Jr., Joe Conway and Robert Queen, all of Las Vegas; two daughters, Patricia Blackmore and Barbara McFelt, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Eugene Fuller Jr. of Vicksburg and Leon Fuller of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Molly Perkins Dew
ANGUILLA — Molly Perkins Dew died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 68.
A lifelong resident of Anguilla, Mrs. Dew had worked at Anguilla Drug Store, was a graduate of Anguilla High School and was a member of Anguilla First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Lucy Dell Perkins.
Survivors include her husband, Carroll Dew of Anguilla; three sons, John Dew and Jason Dew, both of Anguilla, and Darrell Dew of Rolling Fork; one brother, J.W. Perkins of Anguilla; one sister, Gail Rivers of Flora; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Anguilla First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bob Smith and Jeff Gilder officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Keever, Russell Stewart, Craig Boykin, Pete Hargrave, Neal Clinkscale and Paul Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony McIntyre, Dr. Danny Jackson and Dr. Mehar Oad.
Aszlee Denise Lee
GREENVILLE — Aszlee Denise Lee died Friday, March 21, 2008, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. She was 28.
Ms. Lee is survived by her parents, Clarice and Charlie Williams Jr. of Sago; two sons, Markeus L. Lee and Davion R. Harris, both of Greenville; six brothers, Christopher Smith of Iraq, Cedric Washington of Massachusetts, Jimmy Hall of Rolling Fork and David Williams, Donald Williams and Westley Washington, all of Hattiesburg; four sisters, Audray Diane Simon of Atlanta and Rhonda M. Matheney, Flelica Smith and Talia Williams, all of Greenville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Light M.B. Church in Anguilla, with the Rev. H.C. Hagler officiating. Burial, under the direction of Mitchell L. Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork, will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Grace.
Barbara Sue Lewis
Barbara Sue Lewis died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at her home. She was 65.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her father, Archie Ezell; her mother, Myrtle Ezell; two brothers, Donald Ezell and Grady Ezell; and one nephew, Eddie Ezell.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Lewis; three daughters, Cindy Edwards and her husband, Joey, Sandy Wilson and Wendy Wilson; three sisters, Evelyn Mitchell, Ann Dukes and Hilda Whittington; two brothers, Rudolph Ezell and Ken Ezell; seven grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and 24 nieces and nephews.

Robert Loftin Jr.
FLORENCE — Robert Loftin Jr. died Friday, March 21, 2008, at his home. He was 78.
Mr. Loftin was a retired production manager in the furniture manufacturing industry. He was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman. He was an Army veteran, and he attended Mount Zion Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by Mary Marshall, his grandmother who reared him.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Loftin of Florence; three sons, Bill Loftin, George Loftin and Don Loftin, all of Florence; five daughters, Cathy Loftin Crain and Ouida Loftin Smith, both of Florence, Talonda Mitchell of Birmingham, Shonna Simms of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Renee Knight of Canton; a sister, Betty Lou Cummins of Vicksburg; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Burial was March 24, 2008, in the Garden of Memories at Florence.
Marrietta B. Murray
Services for Marrietta B. Murray will be at 2 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Murray died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 85.
She was an operator of the former Blue Room Skyline nightclub and also worked at Canizaro’s Jewelers. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Murray; her father, Walter Burnside; and her mother, Maude Etta Maxey Burnside.
She is survived by her son, Robert Scott of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Doris Barry and Virginia Bryant, both of St. Louis; two nephews, Wardell Wince and John Maxey; and her niece, Irene Maxey.
Charlotte Shelby
Charlotte Shelby died Tuesday, March, 25, 2008 at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.
Mrs. Shelby was born in Fayette and had lived most of her life in Vicksburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie Walker and Ivory Walker; two brothers, Joseph Scott Thomas and Aaron Thomas; and one sister, Cora Lee Gaines.
Survivors include her husband, Brent Shelby of Vicksburg; three sons, Michael Shelby and Charles Shelby, both of Vicksburg, and Brent Shelby of Natchitoches, La.; three daughters, Henretta Shelby, Brenda Shelby and Rose Shelby, all of Vicksburg; one brother, Will T. Thomas of Fayette; two sisters, Gracie Walker of Southaven and Elizabeth Starks of Jackson; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Mary Beatrice Smith
Mary Beatrice Smith died Friday, March 21, 2008, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 85.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Evergreen M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake Jones Sr. and Beldora Williams Jones; her husband, I.C. Smith; one brother, Cleveland Jones; two sisters, Margaret Spicer and Georgia Wardley.
Survivors include a brother, Jake Jones Jr. of Albion, Mich; a sister, Mary Davis of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and others, including Gloria Davis Lynn of Vicksburg.
Services will be at noon Sunday at Pleasant Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Clifton Spicer Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 Saturday night at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
