Gators drop match to Ridgeland, 4-3|[04/03/08]

Christine Figueroa defeated Rebecca Kim in girls singles 6-0, 6-1, but Vicksburg fell short of beating Ridgeland in a Division 3-4A match on Wednesday.

The boys doubles team of Reed Rodgers and Perry Tolliver defeated Rami Jamileh and Turner Lott 6-1, 6-1, and the girls doubles team of Catherine Figeuroa and Grace Ga-as defeated Becca McNeil and Melissa Myers 6-1, 6-2.

The Gators are scheduled to play at Pearl on Tuesday, host Lanier on Wednesday and Yazoo City on Thursday. The Julie Abraham Tournament, which will feature VHS, Warren Central and St. Aloysius, is scheduled for April 11 at 11 a.m. at Halls Ferry Park.

The No. 1 doubles team of Paul Prudhomme and Rowe Rhett defeated Scott McKaa and Jeremy Falls 6-3, 6-3. The No. 1 mixed doubles team of Clay Koestler and Jill McVan won 6-2, 6-1.

The WC girls doubles team of Sophia Vollor and Bailey Howington defeated Katie Floyd and Amanda Guizerix 6-4, 6-2. Other WC winners were the No. 2 boys doubles team of Braddock Oakes and Ross Rhett, and the No. 2 girls doubles team of Jill Shirley and Claire Kendall.

St. Aloysius’ boys singles player Duffy Loel defeated Tom Melby 6-0, 6-0, and Sara Marcus defeated Shelby Claire Liddell in girls singles 6-4, 6-0.
