Equipment to repair phones at the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department arrived last night, and the system should be up and running by this afternoon, said Sheriff Frank Davis this morning.
The equipment, costing about $1,500, is needed to repair the latest of four disruptions in the phone system for Claiborne County government. Callers to the sheriff’s department have been greeted by a busy signal since the problem was discovered Monday. Allen Burke, president of the Claiborne County Board of Supervisors, said the phone dysfunction was caused by a router problem.
The current phone system manufactured by Cisco was installed by NetComp in 2005.
