A Louisiana man was arrested by local authorities Thursday and charged with a shooting that occurred nearly four years ago on Washington Street, police said.
Stace Bell, 36, 801 David St., Lake Providence, was picked up by police in Lake Providence at 12:30 p.m. and charged with aggravated assault, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. Bell had been arrested in March by authorities in Louisiana for unrelated charges and was handed over to Vicksburg police Thursday.
Bell is accused of shooting a 40-year-old woman on July 17, 2004, in the 2900 block of Washington Street. Stewart said the victim was injured, but survived the attack.
Bell was being held without bond pending his initial hearing in Vicksburg Municipal Court today.
Vicksburg man shot in hand on MLK
One person was injured in a shooting in Vicksburg Thursday night, police said.
Marvin Williams, 46, 1325 Jackson St., was shot once in the hand in the 1700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and was taken to River Region Medical Center, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. A hospital spokesman said Williams had been transferred, but did not say to which hospital.
No arrest has been made, Stewart said.
The shooter was described as a man driving a dark-colored Nissan Maxima, Stewart said.
Pickup reported stolen outside Clay Street hotel
A vehicle was reported stolen Thursday afternoon from a Clay Street hotel, police said.
At 12:39, a blue and silver 1994 GMC pickup was reported stolen from the parking lot of the Quality Inn at 3332 Clay St., Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
He said the driver had entered the lobby and left the keys in the truck. Its Mississippi tag number is 567WB6.
Guns, lawn mower among missing items
Three burglaries were reported in the city and county Thursday.
A Taurus PT25-caliber pistol was reported stolen from a 1997 Ford Escort parked in the 3900 block of Washington Street. Vicksburg police received the report at 3:22 p.m.
At 8:24 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff’s Department received a report that several shotguns and pistols were missing from a home in the 7600 block of Halls Ferry Road.
A red Murray push lawn mower, 20 concrete blocks and a two-seat go-cart were reported stolen from a home in the 2100 block of Boy Scout Road. The value was $300. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department received the report at 9:30 p.m.
