The Vicksburg Art Assocation’s annual spring show for members kicks off tonight.
A reception will be at 8 p.m. at the Constitution Firehouse Gallery. Awards will be annouced at the event.
This year’s show features 121 works in 11 categories — oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing, mixed media, photo-color, photo-mono, fiber, print, 3-D and family pet.
“There is a great variety of art in the show this year,” said VAA President Alice Jean Dortch. “The quality exceeds that in previous years.”
First- second- and third-place ribbons and an honorable mention will be named in each category. Also, the David A. Leenknecht Award will be presented for best photograph, and a People’s Choice award will be named through votes from reception attendees. Cetin Oguz of Delta State University is this year’s judge.
The show will continue through Wednesday at the Constitutuion Firehouse gallery. Works will be on display from 1 until 4 Sunday afternoon and from 10 until 4 Monday through Wednesday.
The assocation meets monthly from September until May at the gallery at Main and Openwood streets. The organization offers workshops and hosts spring and fall exhibits.
