James Paul Clark

James Paul Clark died Monday, April 21, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 49.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Clark attended Warren Central High School and served eight years in the U. S. Merchant Marines. He was a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel.

He is survived by his father and mother, Carl Huval and Joan Tedder Huval of Vicksburg; sister, Cleo Moore and husband Steven of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Randy Clark of Vicksburg; two nieces, Chelsea Moore and Briana Clark; and a nephew, Cameron Clark.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. P. J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating. Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. Thursday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Russell Cole, Randy Clark, Daniel Gregory and Steven Moore.

Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Community Center, 629 Cherry St., Vicksburg, MS 39183.

Daryll LeVon Hall

Daryll LeVon “Frog” Hall died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 30.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hall was a 1996 graduate of Warren Central High School. He was employed at New Car Look.

He was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Birdia Flagg, Corean Hall and Percy Hall Sr.; and grandparents, Aaron Cosby Sr. and Milton Artel Moore Sr.

Survivors include his parents, Brenda Hall and Hyman Cosby of Vicksburg; his grandparents, Lureatha Moore, Earnestine Cosby and Johnny Flagg; and aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Jamie Herman

TALLULAH — Jamie Herman died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Lake Cormorant, Miss. He was 34.

Mr. Herman was born in Delhi, La., and had lived in Tallulah most of his life. He was a carpenter.

He is survived by his parents, Harry and Sandra Herman of Tallulah; one sister, Tammy Griffith of Lake Cormorant; three brothers, Howard Herman and John Robert Herman, both of Tallulah, and Ben Herman Jr. of Flowood; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. Jay Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ben Herman, John Robert Herman, James Griffith, Jimbo Griffith, Charlie Herman and Henry Herman.

Mildred B. Keith

UTICA — Mildred B. Keith died Monday evening, April 21, 2008, at her home in Utica. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Utica Christian Church with interment following at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica from 5 until 8 this evening and at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Mildred was a native and lifelong resident of the Utica area. She was born March 5, 1918, to Eugene and Isabel Foote Breeden and was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Robert B. “Lee” Currie and Ben Fink.

She is survived by husband, John W. “Billy” Keith of Utica; sons, Sam Currie of South Pacifica, Calif., Dan Currie and wife Patricia of Utica, and Bob Currie and wife Doris of Utica; stepson, John A. Keith, and stepdaughter, Charlotte Crist, both of Vicksburg; five granddaughters; one grandson; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Mildred was a devoted member of Utica Christian Church and was very active in all facets of church life as long as she was able.

The family requests that memorials be made to Utica Christian Church, P.O. Box 306, Utica, MS 39175.

John W. Sykes

Services for John W. Sykes will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Triumph M.B. Church with the Rev. Dexter Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Sykes died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 84.

Born in Tunica, Mr. Sykes was a former resident of Madera, Calif., where he retired. He was a member of Triumph M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Lucille Sykes and Ethel Sykes; a son, James Edward Jackson; two brothers, Edward Sykes and Moses Sykes; four sisters, Millie Sykes, Rosetta Miller, Jean Ford and Zellner Gilliam; and his parents, John Sullivan Sykes and Sirlinor Sanders Sykes.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Sykes of Signal Hill, Calif.; one sister, Vera Carter of Vicksburg; his caregiver, Victor Gilliam of Vicksburg; one grandson; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Frankie Leon Taylor

TALLULAH — Frankie Leon Taylor died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. He was 69.

Born in Forest, La., Mr. Taylor had lived in Tallulah for 43 years. He retired as a timber contractor for Chicago Mill & Lumber Co. and owned Taylor’s Produce.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bolding Taylor of Tallulah; two sons, Frankie Leon Taylor Jr. of Atlanta and Jeffery Scott Taylor of Vicksburg; one daughter, Sondrea Lynn Taylor of Tallulah; a sister, Joann Trichell of Oak Grove, La.; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service.

Kenny Williams

Mr. Kenny Williams died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was 53.

Mr. Williams was born May 8, 1954, to June E. Williams and the late Ernest L. Williams Jr.

He was a former Vicksburg police officer before joining the Immigration Customs Enforcement as a special agent, retiring in 2007. Kenny was a member of the W.H. Stevens Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Federal Law Officers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Cathie Gilbert Williams; son, Brandon J. Williams; and daughter, Autumn Williams, all of Clinton; his mother, June E. Williams; sisters, Pam Rachal and husband Paul, Barbara Moseley and husband Jarvis; brother, Leroy Williams and wife Dianne, all of Vicksburg; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Jim Evans and wife Susan of Mobile, Ala.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Curtis officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bob Woods, Martin Pace, Jeff Riggs, Jim Baldwin, Chris Oslin and Blayne Bergeron.

Honorary pallbearers will be Immigration Customs Enforcement, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Vicksburg Police Department, Dr. Don Sessums, Bob Baird and Bob Haberkamp.
