Richard Hamlin Burrow II
Richard Hamlin Burrow II died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 21.
Born in Flowood, Miss., he was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. Mr. Burrow attended Warren Central High School and was in his junior year as a business major at the University of Southern Mississippi at the time of his death. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for snow skiing.
Mr. Burrow was a member of Bovina United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Grover C. and Christine Speed; and his paternal grandfather, Dr. W. Hollis Burrow.
He is survived by his parents, Richard H. “Rick” and Mary Burrow of Vicksburg; two brothers, Matthew Weissinger of Starkville and Matthew Prince of Vicksburg; his paternal grandmother, Patricia H. Burrow of Grand Junction, Colo.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lister Bowdoin, the Rev. Lynette Little and the Rev. Eddie Spencer officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 5 until 7 tonight.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Prince, Jonathan Duke, Brent Jackson, Scott Meek, Beau Burrow, Forrest DeBuys, Scott Burrow, Grant Burrow, Patrick Walker and John Ovella.
Honorary pallbearers will be Linda Guthrie, Kristina Burrow, Holly Debuys, Dr. Bobby Wilkerson, Helen McDonald, Cindy Yeager, Susan Moore, Duncan Burrow, Jessica Walz, Lil Netterville, Alpha Tau Omega fraternity brothers and nurses of the 5th Floor South- St. Dominic Hospital.

Charles Junior Cook
EDWARDS – Charles Junior “Sonny” Cook died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at his home in Edwards. He was 72.
Mr. Cook was born in West Carroll Parish.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Ray Cook; and his parents, Charles Barnett Cook and Mattie Vorena Plunk Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Hillman Cook of Edwards; two sons, Lowell “Buddy” Cook and wife Bonnie of Kilbourne, La., and Mike Cook and wife Shona of Vicksburg; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cook of Kilbourne; two brothers, Billy Cook and wife Nancy of Slidell, La., and Johnny Cook and wife “Dinky” of Kilbourne; two sisters, Mary Hires and husband Randy of Marthaville, La., and Sarah Almond and husband Joe of Tallulah; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Kilbourne with the Rev. Bernard Duchesne officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 9 tonight at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove, La.
Pallbearers will be Keith Wyatt, Jimmy Wyatt, Lowell Kelling, Tommy Cook, Randy Almond and Johnny Cook Jr.
Daryll LeVon Hall
Services for Daryll LeVon “Frog” Hall will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Mount Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. R.L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 6 tonight at Williams Funeral Service and at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mr. Hall died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 30.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hall was a 1996 graduate of Warren Central High School. He was employed at New Car Look.
He was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Birdia Flagg, Corean Hall and Percy Hall Sr.; and grandparents, Aaron Cosby Sr. and Milton Artel Moore Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Brenda Hall and Hyman Cosby of Vicksburg; his grandparents, Lureatha Moore, Earnestine Cosby and Johnny Flagg; one son, Bradley Washington of Vicksburg; his fiance, LaQuetee Northern of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Hall, Moore, Crear, Bell, Strong, Flagg and Cosby families of Vicksburg.
Mattie Johnson Hicks
UTICA – Mother Mattie Johnson Hicks passed away at the Covenant Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vicksburg. Mother Hicks was born March 15, 1906, in Claiborne County.
Her funeral service is at noon Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Barridge M.B. Church in Edwards with burial at Rohelia Church Cemetery in Utica. Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
She will be remembered for her giving spirit, her love for others, her kindness, generosity and special gift of always seeing the good in others.
On Saturday, April 19, 2008, God in his infinite wisdom called Mother Mattie Johnson Hicks from labor to reward. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Lena Mae Burks Hartsfield of Utica, Ruby Lee Burks Upson of Edwards and Lorea Hubbard of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Annie Mae Cooper of Jackson; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
John Walter Hogue
NEWELLTON – Mr. John Walter Hogue Jr. died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in an automobile accident in Clayton, La. He was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Natchez and had lived in Tensas Parish most of his life.
Mr. Hogue was a farmer and member of Delhi Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Walter Hogue Sr. and Rudye Asher Hogue.
He is survived by his wife, Constance Toler Hogue; 11 children, John Walter Hogue III, James Kenneth Hogue, Sara Hogue Barkhouse, Paul Charles Frank Hogue Sr., Daniel Mark Hogue Sr., Michael Stephen Hogue Sr., Esther Hogue Davis, Joseph Andrew Hogue Sr., Benjamin Philip Hogue, David Olson Hogue and Samuel Asher Hogue; and 34 grandchildren, Brigette Asher Hogue, Marguerite Olson Hogue, Sabina Lucille Hogue, John Walter Hogue IV, Amos Olson Barkhouse, Abigail Grace Barkhouse, Jessica Mae Barkhouse, Sophia Nan Barkhouse, Paul Charles Frank Hogue Jr., Madeline Claire Hogue, William Christopher Hogue, Nicholas Asher Hogue, Jacob Payne Hogue, Asher Stephen Hogue, Carolyn Hogue, Olivia Kate Hogue, Daniel Mark Hogue Jr., Emma Rose Hogue, Walter Hasting Hogue, Ingrid Nan Hogue, Jackson Toler Hogue, Benjamin Harley Hogue, Merrie Margaret Hogue, Constance Noelle Hogue, Ramey Nan Hogue, Michael Stephen Hogue Jr., Emma Duncan Hogue, Ellie McInnis Hogue, James Harley Davis III, Ruth Constance Hogue, Joseph Andrew Hogue Jr., Georgia Kathleen Hogue, Townes David Hogue and Cornelia Cate Hogue.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Delhi Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton.
A wake service will be from 5 until 7 tonight.
His nine sons will serve as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glyn Lance, Frank Evans and Tegegne Aboye.
