Two county men jailed for manufacturing meth|[05/01/08]

Two Warren County men were arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Picked up by deputies were Charles Height, 28, 1983 Mississippi 3, and Brian Lick, 30, 80 Bonelli Circle. They were arrested at about 4 at Height’s home and charged with the manufacturing offense and also possession of precursor chemicals, Pace said.

Deputy Chief Jay McKenzie said the arrests were part of an ongoing investigation and that precursor chemicals and meth lab equipment were recovered in the heist.

The two were in the Warren County Jail without bond this morning.

Vacant home destroyed by fire on U.S. 61 North

A vacant home was destroyed by fire early this morning, a Warren County fire official said.

At 1:57 a.m., Northeast and Culkin volunteer fire units responded to the home at 12726 U.S. 61 North, Warren County Volunteer Fire Coordinator Kelly Worthy said. Units were on the scene for about two hours.

The home, owned by Mike Brown, was vacant, and no injuries were reported. But Worthy also noted that since the home was empty, there was a delay in reporting the fire. Worthy described the damage as “a total loss.”

Copper wire thefts pass 2007 mark in county

Copper wire was once again reported stolen in the county Wednesday, bringing this year’s total of copper thefts to 12 and passing 2007’s mark of 11.

Wednesday’s theft was reported at a home under construction in the 100 block of Cole Lake Drive. Various sizes of copper wire, along with two extension cords and an AM/FM radio were stolen. The total value was $150. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department received the report at 8:54 a.m.

Refrigerator, gasoline reported missing

A refrigerator and two gallons of gas were reported stolen in two city burglaries Wednesday, police said.

At 8:39 a.m., a GE refrigerator valued at $200 was reported stolen from a home in the 3500 block of Washington Street. Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said the home was entered through a back door.

A two-gallon container with gas was stolen from the bed of a truck in the parking lot of Wal-Mart SuperCenter, 2150 Iowa Blvd. Police received the report at 1:40 p.m.
