One person was killed and 17 others injured in a Saturday afternoon boiler explosion at International Paper’s Vicksburg Mill, officials with the company said.

Names had not been released, pending notification of family members.

Tom Macher, manager of the mill off Mississippi 3, said about 400 workers, including the plant’s regular 306 employees, were on site when the explosion occurred at about 3:05.
