Lafayette County (22-8) defeated Tishomingo 6-3 on Monday to force a deciding third game tonight. The winner of that series will play the Gators at Warren Central’s Viking Field on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Gators (26-7) will travel on Friday for the second game. A third game, if necessary, will be played on Saturday.

The opening game of the Lafayette series got rained out on Friday.

The two teams played the first game on Saturday. The winner of that series could possibly end up playing five games in six days.

Vicksburg had no such problems, dispatching New Albany in two straight. The Gators won the first game Friday 11-1 in a mercy-rule shortened game and then defeated the Bulldogs 14-5 on Saturday.

The Gators are the lone remaining team from Warren County in the playoffs.

Clinton High, however, earned a spot in the Class 5A North State championship series with a 2-1 series victory over Northwest Rankin, the top-ranked team in the state.

The Arrows (22-12) will meet either Tupelo or DeSoto Central at Clinton on Thursday. DeSoto, which won the regional in which Warren Central played, shut out Tupelo on Monday.
