Joseph Lee Ballard

Services for Joseph Lee Ballard will be at 11 a.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Thursday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Mr. Ballard died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.

Born in Fayette, Mr. Ballard was a retired construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Angela Judge and D’wright Judge.

Survivors include his wife, Bettye Mitchell Ballard of Vicksburg; two sons, Joseph Ballard Jr. of Vicksburg and Quincy Williams of Redwood; four daughters, Helen Carter of Vicksburg, Linda Perkins Buchanan of Washington, D.C., and Lekeshia Ballard and Lynnelle Judge, both of Chicago; two stepsons, Jeffrey Brown and Tracy Brown, both of Vicksburg; one stepdaughter, Pamela Brown of Vicksburg; 16 grandchildren; and other relatives.

Joshua R. Jefferson-Lindsey

Joshua R. Jefferson-Lindsey, infant son of Nicole Jefferson and Donald Lindsey of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at River Region Medical Center.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Betty Jefferson of Vicksburg and Earl Jefferson of Jackson; his paternal grandmother, Jean Lindsey of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Flora Mae Jones

Flora Mae Jones died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Alide Hospice in Nashville, Tenn. She was 63.

Born in Warren County, Mrs. Jones was a certified nurse’s aide. She was a 1962 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and a member of Pleasant Hill M.B. Church of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her father, Major Jones; her maternal grandparents, Jake Austin and Emma Austin; and paternal grandparents, Pete Jones and Gertrude Fuller Atkins.

Survivors include two sons, Leroy Pendleton of Tallulah and Michael D. Chambers of Nashville; two daughters, Charlinda F. Chambers and Sherry L. Jones, both of Nashville; her mother, Sadie Mae Austin Jones of Vicksburg; two brothers, McArthur Jones of Los Angeles and Willie Lee Jones of Bellflower, Calif.; two sisters, Emma L. Parker and Virginia J. Regan, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Donna Susan Shute Marshall

Donna Susan Shute Marshall died Monday, May 12, 2008. She was 53.

Born in New Orleans, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Edward Lollar and Bertha Lynette Ezelle Lollar.

Donna was a graduate of Hinds Junior College School of Nursing and a former longtime employee of Shady Lawn Nursing Home.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Marshall of Vicksburg; four daughters, Phyllis Shute of Morgan City, La., Amanda Harris of Pontotoc and Laurie Reece and Lisa Hasty and her husband, Doug, all of Vicksburg; one son, Phillip Shute and his wife, Brenda, of Shreveport, La.; eight grandchildren, Madison Lynette Shute, Jessica Hasty, Justin Hasty, Steven Perry, Trey Perry, Katlyn Reece, Carmen Harris and Blair Harris; a sister, Terrie Ferguson of Vicksburg; two brothers, Mike Lollar of Taneytown, Md., and Ronald Province of Llano, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Doug Hasty, John Elfer, Donald Walls, Randall Walls, Patrick McKenzie and Frank Ferguson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joaquin Bastian and Frank Hill.
