John Green Jr.

John Green died Friday, May 16, 2008, at his home. He was 77.

Mr. Green was retired from LeTourneau. He also worked as a security guard at Kuhn Memorial Hospital and as a bys driver with the Vicksburg Warren School District. He was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Green Sr. and Lucille Boddy; two brothers, Joseph Boddy and Julina Burkley; a sister, Mae Jane Scott; and a daughter Varia Green.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtis Green of Vicksburg; four sons, John Green III, Richard B. Green and Jamie Turner all of Chicago, and Joesph Green Wells of Vicksburg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several stepchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Brenda Louisa Smith Moore

GREENVILLE – Brenda Louise Smith Moore died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Vicksburg. She was 58.

Mrs. Smith Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mamie Smith; a sister, Mary Alice Henson; and brothers Merle Martin and Dallas Martin.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Moore; a sister, Patrice Ann Wheatley; and a brother, E.L. Martin.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mortimer Funeral Home in Greenville, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Garden. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Matthew Keith Jobe

TALLULAH – Matthew Keith Jobe died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Tallulah. He was 14.

Survivors include his mother, Ladaska Jobe of El Cajon, Calif.; his father, Bryan Keith Jobe, of Georgia.; maternal grandparents Gainelle and Jesse Brewer of Tallulah; and paternal grandparents Bernnie and Sheila Jobe of Tallulah.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah, with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.

Hazel B. Edwards

TALLULAH – A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Hazel B. Edwards, wife of Everett L. Edwards, on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Tallulah, with the Revs. John Rushing and Cletus Moak officiating.

Ms. Hazel, as she was affectionately called, was born in Farmerville, La., July 8, 1928, and passed away Friday, May 16, 2008. She was 79 years old. Ms. Hazel was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she served 42 years as director of the fifth and sixth grade Sunday school. Her loving memory will be alive and well in all the lives she so richly touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Zera Brasher of Farmerville, La.; and one brother, Hurby Brasher, a casualty of World War II.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Everett L. Edwards; two daughters, Victoria L. Edwards, and Beverly E. Zeigler and her husband, Howard; one son, Ronald D. Edwards; two sisters, Nancy Green and her husband, Muriel, and Juarline Arender and her husband, Donald Wayne; and two brothers, JW Brasher and his wife, Bennie, and Dwain Brasher and his wife, Rachel.

She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Chad Zeigler and his wife, Chasity, and Staci Zeigler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Hazel’s magnificent spiritual splendor is almost as breathtaking as the numerous varieties of landscape beauty she so enjoyed planting and nurturing in her yard work.
