Undercover drug sting leads to man’s being jailed|[05/23/08]

An undercover drug trafficking investigation in the Kings community landed a Vicksburg man in Warren County Jail Thursday.

Maurice Washington, 24, 60 Railroad Alley, was arrested at 8:51 a.m. following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of North Washington Street, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Washington was charged with three counts of sale of cocaine. Information from the investigation led to the arrest, Stewart said.

Bond was set at $45,000.

Two cars missing; another is recovered

A 2002 Chrysler Concorde was reported missing from the 700 block of Redbone Road this morning at 6:06, reports show.

The vehicle had been loaned to the son of the owner, Stewart said. Charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle will be prepared, Stewart said.

In other vehicle thefts, one was reported missing to Vicksburg police Thursday and one missing since Tuesday was recovered.A white 2000 Chevrolet Impala was reported missing at 7:32 a.m. from the 1900 block of South Street.A 1997 Dodge Neon with Mississippi tag FRF 401 reported missing Tuesday from Clay Street at Interstate 20 was found in the 100 block of Walters Street, Stewart said.

Camera reported missing from home on Sky Farm

A digital camera was reported missing at 10:18 a.m. Thursday from a home in the 1900 block of Sky Farm Avenue, Vicksburg Police Department reports show.
