Warren County’s junior division AAU basketball team claimed the state tournament championship on Sunday, rallying to beat the MS Fire 61-57.

The team, made up of Warren Central’s girls varsity team, got a game-high 24 points from Karnina Bunch and 21 for Sha’Kayla Caples. Dee Dee Eatmon added 10.

Warren County trailed 30-25 at the half and were down by as many as 11 in the second half before rallying to eliminate the Brandon-based Fire.

Warren County improved to 10-0 in the summer and will have a full plate of games throughout June. The team earned a national tournament bid with Sunday’s win, but coach Donny Fuller said the team will decline the invitation because of cost and other conflicts.
