Stabbing injures Vicksburg man, gets woman jailed|[06/16/08]

A Sunday stabbing put a Vicksburg man in the hospital and a Vicksburg woman in jail. Both were released this morning.

At 11:08 a.m. Sunday Jalisha Austin, 18, 126 Marguerite Drive, was arrested at 128 Village Drive for the stabbing of Jamal Stowers, 20, 128 Village Drive, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Stowers was stabbed once in the stomach. He was taken to River Region Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Austin was charged with aggravated domestic violence and was taken to the Warren County Jail. She was released on a $2,500 bond.

Wrecks during weekend send three to hospital

Three wrecks over the weekend sent three people to River Region Medical Center, but all were treated and released by this morning.

Jerry Friley, 35, 285 Galey Road, was involved in a one-vehicle crash Friday night at 9:03 at 8239 U.S. 61 South.

Jackie Abel, 44, 4313 Yorktown Road, was involved in a crash on 3312 Pemberton Square Blvd. on Saturday morning at 11:38. An airbag deployed and there was damage to the driver’s side front panel, but the report did not state the nature of the crash or how many vehicles were involved.

J.B. Winters, 42, 720 Crawford St., was riding his bicycle Sunday at 3:35 a.m. when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle at 2101 Clay St. The report did not identify the driver of the vehicle.

Burglars, thieves find air conditioners hot

Copper wire, cash and a handgun are among items missing this morning.

On Friday at 3:52 p.m. copper wire was reported missing from an air conditioning unit in the 100 block of Old Mount Alban Road. The theft destroyed the unit, which was valued at $2,000.

An auto burglary was reported Friday at 5:44 p.m. in the 1700 block of Monroe Street. Stolen was $35 and a Bosch cordless screwdriver valued at $180.

Saturday morning at 5:02, a residential burglary was reported in the 500 block of Ken Karyl Avenue. Stolen was $400.

A Lawn-Boy lawn mower was reported missing Saturday morning at 7:30 in a residential burglary in the 500 block of Hugo Street. The lawn mower was valued at $250.

An auto burglary was reported in the 1600 block of Walnut Street Saturday at 7:31 a.m. Stolen was a Hi-Point 9 mm handgun valued at $175.

More copper was reported missing at 2:22 p.m. Saturday from an air conditioner in the 90 block of Gibson Road Circle. The theft destroyed the unit, which was valued at $2,500.

Another copper wire theft was reported on Saturday at 3:13 p.m. in the 80 block of Alice Place. The wire was missing from another air conditioner, which was valued at $2,500.

An auto burglary was reported in the 1100 block of Monroe Street Saturday at 4:52 p.m. Stolen was $25 in change.

Sunday at 4:49 p.m., grand larceny was reported in the 1200 block of East Avenue. Stolen was a 3 1/2- ton AC unit valued at $3,000.
