The search continued this morning for a Vicksburg man accused of a downtown shooting about two weeks ago that killed one and injured another. A second man charged in the same killing was granted bond Monday night, but remained in the Warren County Jail today.

Eric Campbell, 27, 503 Fairground St., had been released on bond after being charged with aggravated assault and other crimes in the shooting on June 8 of David Becker, 26, 712 Speed St.

Becker died from his injuries Sunday at University Medical Center, and charges against Campbell and Antonio Glasper, 22, 74 Redhawk Road, were upgraded to murder. Glasper was officially notified of his upgraded charges Monday night in Vicksburg Municipal Court, but Campbell has not been found, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department.

Campbell was released from the Warren County Jail on a $95,000 bond following the initial charges in the shooting in front of the home that victims Becker and Lee Sherman Yates, 42, shared on Speed near Washington Street. Yates, who was shot in the foot, was treated and released from River Region Medical Center on the day of the shooting. Becker had been at UMC in Jackson since his transfer there on the day of the shooting.

In addition to aggravated assault, Campbell and Glasper each were charged with one count of drive-by shooting and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Police said Becker was shot in the chest, arm and both legs while standing on his front porch in the shooting at 2:47 a.m., which witnesses said stemmed from an argument about a block away.

In municipal court Monday night, Judge Lewis Burke granted Glasper a $100,000 bond, saying he had no criminal history. Glasper remained in the jail this morning.

Lt. Stewart said this morning that anyone with information about Campbell’s whereabouts should call police at 601-636-2511 or 601-636-6393.
