The Vicksburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. has announced the winners of its Ninth Biennial Jabberwock Extravaganza.

This year’s theme was A Night of Pageantry: Presenting Dazzling Dolls and Divas.

Jabberwock is taken from “Jabberwocky,” a poem from the children’s classic “Alice in Wonderland.” Delta Sigma Theta started the event began in 1925 as a teen development and community outreach project. It has evolved into one of the sorority’s most popular happenings. Part of the funds raised during Jabberwock is awarded to participants, and some is used to support scholarships and public service projects of the Vicksburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta.

This year, 14 young women competed for titles and crowns in three categories – Little Miss (kindergarten-4th grade), Junior Miss (5th-8th grades) and Miss (9th-12th grades). Winners were named in a ceremony at City Auditorium, and a souvenir book was dedicated posthumously to and presented to family members of sorority member Mattye Havard.

Little Miss Jabberwock Jordan Elizabeth Buford is the 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Buford and the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Walls. She is a second-grader at Beechwood Elementary. Jordan was escorted by Taevion Jakell Doss, the son of Tiawanda L.Doss. He is a third-grader at Warrenton Elementary.

Junior Miss Jabberwock Kiara Lachun Stevenson is the 13-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stevenson Sr. She is a seventh-grader at Vicksburg Junior High. Kiara was escorted by De’Markus Cortez Taylor, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson. He is a seventh-grader at Vicksburg Junior High.

Miss Jabberwock Kiara Danielle Allen is the 18-year-old daughter of Kimberley Ann Allen and the late Christopher Randall Murray. She is a senior at Natchez High School. Kiara was escorted by JaDarrius Antoine Johnson, the son of Sherry Martin and Antoine Johnson. He is a senior at Natchez High.

She is a fourth-grader at Beechwood Elementary. Zyderrica was escorted by James Ja’Shaun Archer, the son Danielle L. Williams and the Rev. and Mrs. James Archer. He is a third-grader at Warren Central Intermediate.

Ron’Janae Sundaria Hill is the 7-year-old daughter of Jennifer Hill. She is a second-grader at Sherman Avenue Elementary. Ron’Janae was escorted by Kevius Quntae McDaniel, the son of Lakeshia Stowers and Xavier McDaniel. He is second-grader at Sherman Avenue Elementary.

Junior Miss Jabberwock

Robin Ashley Cooper is the 14-year-old daughter of Jerome Cooper and Deborah Cooper. She is an eighth-grader at St. Aloysius High School. Robin was escorted by Elwin L. Johnson Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elwin L Johnson Sr. He is a 10th-grader at Vicksburg High.

Flonice Michelle Jackson is the 15-year-old daughter of Linda Jackson and the late Michael Jackson. She is a ninth-grader at Vicksburg High School. Flonice was escorted by Baron Robert Meeks, the son of Robbie M. Meeks and Willie A. Griffin. He is a 10th-grader at Vicksburg High.

Victoria Charleane Jeanes is the 14-year-old daughter of Maggie Jeanes and Charlie Johnson. She is an eighth-grader at Vicksburg Junior High. Victoria was escorted by Anthony Bennett Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Bennett Sr. He is a sophomore at Vicksburg High.

Alexis Dawnchelle Stevenson is the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Williams and Derrell Green Sr. She is a seventh-grader at Vicksburg Junior High. Alexis was escorted by Christopher Williams, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Williams. He is a seventh-grader at Vicksburg Junior High.

Marneicha Symone Wilson is the 12-year-old daughter of Marnique Wilson. She is a seventh-grader at Warren Central Junior High. Marneicha was escorted by Edwin Cantrell Myles, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin V. Myles. He is a sixth-grader at Bowmar Elementary.

Trina Sherice Lloyd is the 15-year-old daughter of Ida Lloyd. She is a freshman at Warren Central High School. Trina was escorted by Greg Dewayne Wright, the son of Ernestine Wright. He is a sophomore at Warren Central.

Darneicius Shardai Thomas is the 18-year-old daughter of Michael Thomas and Angela Miller. She is a senior at Vicksburg High School. Darneicius was escorted by Darryl Rashad Harris, the son of Dorothy Harris. He is a senior at Vicksburg High.

Stormy Charmaine Trotter is the 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Trotter Jr. She is a sophomore at Vicksburg High School. Stormy was escorted by Curtiss Ja’Cory Winters, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss Winters. He is senior at Warren Central High School.
