Educators’ conference kicks off next week at Hinds’ Raymond campus|[07/09/08]

Tour of Vicksburg on 3-day agenda
A week from today, Hinds Community College’s main campus in Raymond will welcome attendees of this year’s Process Education Conference, organized by the Academy of Process Educators.
The event, set for July 16-18, will be at Eagle Ridge Conference Center. During the three days of the conference, participants will travel to Vicksburg for a tour of local attractions, including the Vicksburg National Military Park, antebellum homes and downtown shops. The conference will also feature workshops, sessions and presentations, as well as entertainment. Keynote speakers will be Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, best known for serving as commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, which led military relief efforts after the August 2005 hurricane devastated the Mississippi and Louisiana coasts; Dr. Stephen Spangehl, director of the Academic Quality Improvement Program for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; Dr. Eric Clark, executive director of the Mississippi State Board of Community and Junior Colleges; and Rick Looser, president and chief operating officer of The Cirlot Agency of Jackson and leader of the Mississippi, Believe It! campaign.
The Academy of Process Educators aids in education research. It produces an international journal, develops position papers and holds an annual conference.
