Eight car burglaries reported at Ameristar|[07/21/08]

Electronic equipment and money were among the items reported stolen in auto burglaries at Ameristar Casino over the weekend, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said:

A purse containing credit cards and $10 in cash was reported stolen Saturday at 9:30 p.m. from an unknown vehicle.

A Motorola Razor, valued at $200, was reported stolen Saturday at 10:50 p.m. from a 2004 Ford F-250.

A Springfield 40 caliber handgun, valued at $350, was reported stolen Saturday at 10:50 p.m. from a Chevrolet Silverado.

A Garmin global positioning system, valued at $250, was reported stolen Saturday at 11:45 p.m. from a 2007 Mazda.

A Dell Laptop, valued at $600, and an I-Go universal charger, valued at $129, was reported stolen Saturday at 11:45 p.m. from a 2007 Dodge Ram.

A JVC CD player, valued at $250, a JVC DVD player, valued at $200, two JVC 9-inch monitors, valued at $100 each and $230 in cash was reported stolen Sunday at 2:52 a.m. from a 1995 Ford Explorer.

Approximately $150 in cash was reported stolen Sunday at 2:52 a.m. from a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Vicksburg man faces charges of forgery

A Vicksburg man was arrested Saturday at 7:50 a.m. on charges of uttering forgery.

Dewayne Jones, 34, 2804 Halls Ferry Road, was arrested at his home. His bond was set at $10,000 and this morning he remained in the Issaquena County Jail, Stewart said.

City, county report thefts during weekend

A pickup and water sport equipment were among the items reported stolen over the weekend, according to Warren County Jail records:

In the county:

Copper wiring, valued at $250, was reported stolen Saturday at 10:25 a.m. from beneath a home in the 10500 block of U.S. 61 South.

An O’Brien Wakeboard, two lifejackets, a fire extinguisher, a pair of ski gloves, miscellaneous hand tools, a ski rope and a ski tube were reported stolen Saturday at 12:03 p.m. from the 1100 block of Eagle Lake Shore Road. The value of the items is unknown.

A grey 2002 Dodge Ram pickup valued at $17,000 with Mississippi tag 1816BQ, was reported stolen Sunday at 2:41 p.m. from Fisher Ferry Road.

In the city:

A 1998 Mercury Sable with Mississippi tag WAK579 was reported stolen Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in the 700 block of U.S. 61 North after the owner left the keys in the car and went into the residence, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department.

A Canon digital camera, valued at $300, was reported stolen from a 2007 Ford F-150 Sunday at 10:13 a.m. in the 4300 block of S. Frontage Road.

City man charged with July 1 auto burglary

A Vicksburg man was arrested Friday at 1:13 p.m. on charges of auto burglary stemming from a burglary July 1, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Steward said.

Spencer Griffin, 18, 1929 Baldwin Ferry Road, was arrested at First North and Bodley streets and was released on $2,500 bond.

Juveniles arrested, charged in morning break-in, theft

Three juveniles were arrested following a business burglary this morning.

Emma’s Hot Dogs, 2710 Drummond St., reported at 4:02 a.m. a burglary in which ice cream, potato chips and various candy with a combined value of $180 were reported stolen.

The juveniles were arrested near Green Street at 5:30 a.m., and most of the items were recovered.

The youths were in the Warren County Detention Center.

Six treated, released after weekend wrecks

Six people were treated and released from River Region Medical Center after four weekend wrecks, according to reports with the Vicksburg Fire Department and comments from hospital spokesman Allen Karel.

The wreck victims were:

Londell Barber, 23, and Calvin Barber, 25, both of 1107 Gordan Station Road, Lorman; following a two car wreck at 11:32 a.m. Friday in the 3100 block of U.S. 61 South.

Betty Strong, 27, 1402 Maulding Drive, and Blake Thompson, 11, North Frontage Road; two-at 2:03 p.m. Saturday at Indiana Avenue and Mission 66.

Patricia Sims, 37, 15 Carroll Place; two-car accident Saturday in the 4200 block of Washington Street.

Teretha Miller, 25, 1827 MacArthur Drive; car struck a tree at 1:33 p.m. Saturday.
