A 14-year-old boy accidently shot with a handgun Thursday was reported in serious condition at River Region Medical Center, said spokesman Allen Karel.
Three Vicksburg teenagers, two 14-year-olds and a 13-year-old, were at a county residence Thursday morning when a .38 caliber handgun was accidently discharged, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
The bullet struck one of the 14-year-olds in the neck under his jaw. It entered one side of the teen’s neck and exited the other, Pace said.
Investigators were expected to finish their investigation today, but Pace said no charges were expected.
City woman charged with taking vehicle
A Vicksburg woman was arrested for taking a car without permission.
Elizabeth Bolls, 18, 138 Gibson Road Circle, was arrested at 2 p.m. Wednesday at her home by Warren County Sheriff’s deputies for taking away a motor vehicle.
She remained in the jail this morning with no bond set.
Boat, TV, ladders among missing items
A plasma television and an aluminum ladder were among the items reported stolen Wednesday and Thursday, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said:
A 14-foot aluminum craft boat and a 14-foot aluminum trailer with a combined value of $1,200 were reported stolen at 10:58 a.m. in the 90 block of Waring Road.
A 40-inch Samsung plasma television valued at $2,000 was reported stolen at 2:38 p.m. in the 4800 block of North Washington Street.
A Husky pressure washer valued at $300, a Ryobi band saw valued at $300 and a Ryobi table saw valued at $300 were reported stolen at 2:40 p.m. in the 2700 block of North Washington Street.
A billfold containing about $40 and a Motorola cell phone valued at $100 were reported stolen at 4:51 p.m. from a 2000 Ford Explorer in the parking lot of Wal-Mart SuperCenter, 2150 Iowa Blvd.
A 14-foot aluminum ladder valued at $125 was reported stolen at 6:39 p.m. in the 2300 block of Pearl Street. The residence was empty at the time because it was being remodeled.
About $200 was stolen out of an auto of unknown make. The burglary was reported today at 1:12 a.m. in the 300 block of Lake Hill Drive.
At 9:27 Wednesday morning a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of Westover Drive. Stolen were a white gold, 6-karat diamond ring, a white gold watch, a gold cross and gold ring valued at $32,000.
Wednesday at 1:37 p.m., a 1985 Case Extendahoe valued at $12,000 was reported missing from Ziegler Road.
A burglary was reported at 7:46 Wednesday night in the 2300 block of Pearl Street. Stolen were a two-piece wedding ring set valued at $300, a gold rope chain valued at $150 and a gold ring with diamonds valued at $160.
At 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of Hawkins Street. Stolen was an Ericsson cell phone valued at $150.
Thursday morning at 6:16 a Featherlite weed trimmer valued at $90 and a one-gallon gas can with gas valued at $15 were reported missing from the 2300 block of Letitia Street.
Garfield’s manager robbed at eatery
An armed robbery was reported at 12:30 this morning at Garfield’s, 3909 Pemberton Square Blvd., and $900 was reported stolen.
The manager said that as he left the eatery inside Pemberton Square mall he was approached by two men with handguns who forced him back inside, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
The suspects were described as black males, both between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet. One was wearing a black bandana, a black short sleeved shirt and shorts. The other was wearing a black hat, a yellow T-shirt and shorts.
Officials were asking anyone who has information on the crime to contact the police department at 601-636-2511.
Wreck injures teen on Dana Road
A Vicksburg man was treated and released from River Region Medical Center after a Wednesday evening wreck, spokesman Diane Gawronski said.
Joshua Smith, 19, 4307 Winchester Road, lost control of his car and it rolled over once at 61 Dana Road at 6:45 Wednesday night.
