Copper theft, assault result in two arrests|[07/28/08]

A Vicksburg man has been accused of grand larceny for stripping air conditioners for copper.
Kenneth Ross, 21, 704 Lee St., was arrested this morning by Vicksburg police at 7:06 at Lee and Pearl streets. He was being held under $5,000 bond.
Another Vicksburg man was arrested Friday at 11:19 a.m. on aggravated domestic assault charges.
James Maynord, 34, 1423 Chambers St., was arrested by Vicksburg police at 1624 Broadhill Drive after police said he rammed his wife’s occupied vehicle with his own vehicle. He was being held without bond.
Police were also looking for Artilious Burnett for a July 15 aggravated assault in the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department. Burnett’s last known address is 1501 Martin Luther King Blvd.
Riding mower, car, DVD among goods said stolen
A lawn mower, watch and DVD player were among items missing this morning.
Friday afternoon at 6:07, an auto burglary was reported in the 100 block of Kings Drive. A 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup was broken into and an AM/FM CD player valued at $200 was stolen.
At 6:23 p.m. Friday, a John Deere L110 riding lawn mower valued at $1,500 was reported missing from underneath a garage in the 5000 block of North Washington Street.
A black 1996 Honda, Mississippi tag HPQ 545, was reported missing from the Ameristar Casino parking lot, 4146 Washington St., Friday night at 10:50.
Saturday at 12:52 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 2300 block of Washington Street. Stolen was a DVD player valued at $40 and two pairs of blue jeans valued at $20 and $14.
At 9:45 a.m. Sunday, an auto burglary was reported in the 4100 block of South Frontage Road. A portable JVC DVD player with a 7-inch screen valued at $180 and a Kenneth Cole watch valued at $100 were missing from a 2005 Toyota Camry.
This morning at 5:29, police responded to an alarm going off at the Dollar General, 2203 Clay St. The front door’s glass had been smashed, but nothing appeared to be missing. The damage to the door was estimated at $300.
Driver treated, released after Sunday accident
A Vicksburg man was treated and released after a Sunday afternoon wreck, River Region spokesman Allen Karel said.
Larry Ross, 52, 76 Brown Alley was in a two-vehicle car wreck Sunday at 2:37 at 2869 N. Washington St.
The wreck caused some damage to the back of Ross’ vehicle.
