Gas pumps at the Kroger under construction on Pemberton Square Boulevard will open as early as tomorrow, and no later than the end of the week, said spokesman Joe Bell this morning.

“It’s not a grand opening. Usually, when we have new stores open we like to run a soft opening to test all the equipment before,” said Bell.

The grocery store is not expected to open until later this year, said Bell.

Those who have a Kroger Plus Shopper’s card will save 3 cents per gallon on gas, and a total of 10 cents for every $100 spent at Kroger in a month. Bell said another 5 cents per gallon can be saved on top of that for shoppers who are approved for a Kroger MasterCard.

“We’re excited. We’ve been under-stored in the Vicksburg market for a long time, and we’re looking forward to starting business,” said Bell.
