Larry Allen Barnes Jr.
Larry Allen Barnes Jr. died Friday, July 25, 2008, at the age of 36.
Visitation will be at Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg today, July 29, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m. with a funeral following on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Fields and the Rev. Frank Thomas.
Allen Barnes was born on Sept. 18, 1971, in Vicksburg to Larry Allen Barnes Sr. and Sarah Barnes.
He was baptized in his teens as a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church in Jackson.
Overcoming adversities, Allen graduated from Warren Central High School before going on to receive his associate degree from Hinds Community College. He worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) until his death.
Allen is survived by his precious daughter, Alyssa Paige Barnes, and his fiancee, Annette Louis. He also leaves behind his mother, Sarah Barnes; his father and stepmother, Larry A. Sr. and Ruth Barnes; grandmother, Sarah C. Easterling; sister and niece, Amanda and Daphyne Paige McCool; stepsister, Jolee, and Steve Ming and family; maternal aunt, Betty and Leonard Vernamonti and family; and paternal uncles, Doug and Nadine Barnes and family, Ronnie Barnes and family and Jerry Barnes. Close and special friends include Keith Jones and family, Joe Rivers, Mike Ahner, Jimmie McCool, Ashley Causey and family, Arthur and Margie Davis and family and Ashley Louis and family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William H. Easterling; and his paternal grandparents, Douglas J. and Louise D. Barnes.
Pallbearers will be Joe Rivers, Keith Jones, Earl Wallace, Knox Coleman, Rodney Wilks, Ashley Causey, Lennie Vernamonti and Tommy Parker.
Phil A. Hunter
Phil A. Hunter died Friday, July 25, 2008, at his residence in Delta, La. He was 61.
Born in Leflore County, Miss., he was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and was the son of the late George Hunter and Lottie Mae Williams Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a mechanic with Delta Muffler and Exhaust Shop at the time of his death. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his daughter, Missy C. Dunlap of Belmont, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Donovan Dunlap, Jordan Dunlap and Devan Dunlap, all of Belmont.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Kelly Hunter; and two sisters, Shirley Mae Bourque and Elvie Estelle Cummings.
A family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
