A gun-toting woman is suspected to be the culprit in two robberies in the city Monday.
In the first, reported at 7:11 p.m. in the BancorpSouth bank parking lot on Indiana Avenue and South Frontage Road, a woman approached the victim, showed a handgun and demanded the night bag she was attempting to deposit and then fled in an unidentified car, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
The woman was described as a black female with medium complexion, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 inches tall and around 200 pounds.
The same description was given in the second report, filed at 10:49 p.m. by an employee in the parking lot of of Shoe Show, 2182 Iowa Blvd.
In that case, again, a handgun was waved and money was demanded, but the victim had none to hand over and the suspect fled in an unknown vehicle.
Construction tools hot in thefts in Vicksburg
Thefts reported in Vicksburg Monday include:
A Dewalt jigsaw valued at $160, a Makita saw valued at $150, a Crossfire nail gun valued at $200, a Black & Decker drill valued at $45 and various hand tools valued at $350 were reported stolen at 11:09 a.m. from a 1994 GMC pickup in the 2100 block of North Frontage Road.
About $100 was reported stolen from a 1994 Buick at 11:23 a.m. in the 1200 block of Second North Street.
A Taurus .38-caliber handgun valued at $200 was reported stolen at 4:23 p.m. in the 300 block of Bazinsky Road.
An Xbox 360 valued at $280 was reported stolen at 9:35 p.m. in the 800 block of Patton Street.
Car, gasoline, diesel missing in county thefts
Gasoline and a Honda Accord were among the items reported stolen Monday in Warren County.
A 2-gallon gasoline container valued at $25, a 5-gallon gasoline tank valued at $25, a 5-gallon gasoline tank filled with diesel valued at $30 and a tackle box with lures valued at $300 were reported stolen from a carport in the 5500 block of Nailor Road.
Four Cooper STT 35-inch mud-grip tires with chrome rims were reported stolen at 6:42 p.m. in the 800 block of Redwood Road. The tires and rims had a combined value of $2,200.
A 1993 green Honda Accord with 17-inch chrome rims was reported stolen at 9:30 p.m. from LeTourneau parking lot, 3300 LeTerneau Road. The car is valued at $2,000 and the license number was not reported.
City woman treated after wreck on Clay
A Vicksburg woman was treated and released, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said, following a two-car accident in the 3200 block of Clay Street at 6:20 p.m. Monday.
Gitta Krinitzsky, 79, 3309 Highland Drive, was a passenger and was the only person taken to River Region Medical Center.
The driver was not identified, and the circumstances of the wreck were not available.
