PORT GIBSON – Patrick “P.W. ” Hynum died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at his daughter’s home in Vicksburg. He was 79.

Mr. Hynum was a Pattison native and had lived in Port Gibson for a number of years. He retired after 40 years of service as a machinist with American Paper Tube in Port Gibson. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church of Pattison and sang with the Hynum Gospel Singers for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by a wife, Ruby Hynum; his father, Lura Hynum; his mother, Oma Hynum; five brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Jo Hynum; two daughters, Paula Jones and Patricia Bryant, both of Vicksburg; two sons, Donald Hynum of Port Gibson and Michael Hynum of Vicksburg; one stepson, Rodney Walters of Eagle Lake; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Gage Hynum officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Beech Grove Baptist Church in Pattison.
