ACHIEVEMENTS

Ellen F. Wakeley received a research grant in the Summer Undergraduate Student Research program at Bowling Green State University. She completed the year with a 4.0 grade-point average and was selected a peer facilitator for introductory biology classes for incoming freshmen. She also received the Sidney Frohman Scholarship for academics, character, leadership and service, along with the Steidmann Biology Scholarship for the second consecutive year. A conservation biology major, she is the daughter of Drs. James and Lillian Wakeley of Vicksburg.

DEGREES

Stacey JaVon Foster of Edwards received a bachelor of science degree during William Carey University’s summer commencement in Hattiesburg.

Myra Blake of Vicksburg has graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in environmental studies and in psychology. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi scientific research society. She is the daughter of Gloria and Henry Blake.

Shirley Ann Reynolds Allen of Vicksburg has graduated from Mississippi College. She received a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.

HONOR ROLLS

William Joseph Carr of Vicksburg has been named to the summer honor roll president’s list at Jones County Junior College.

HONOR SOCIETIES

Meggie K. Welch of North Hollywood has been accepted into Golden Key international honor society at California State University in Los Angeles. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and was on the dean’s list. She has appeared in three productions at Cal State, including the lead role in “The Baby Dance.” She appeared in “1,000 Ways to Die” on Spike TV and is a member of the Los Angeles Theatre Group 3 of a Kind. She is the daughter of Dr. Charles and Terry Welch of Vicksburg.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Lorraine Lin, a graduate of Warren Central High School, has been named a Mississippi State University Distinguished Scholarship recipient. The daughter of Drs. Lihwa and Lichu Lee Lin, she will major in electrical engineering.
