Lona Pearl Elliott

Lona Pearl Elliott died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Shady Lawn Place. She was 78.

Born in Marks, Mrs. Elliott was the daughter of Charlie Rogers and Minnie Bell Winters. She was a former Clarksdale resident and a member of Clarksdale Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hulon Elliott; and a son, Joseph Lee Elliott.

She is survived by six daughters, Jennett Martin of Water Valley, Cathy Boggan of Vicksburg, Margie E. Williams of Courtland, Laura Eubanks of Horn Lake, Mary Ann Rutledge of Potts Camp and Norma Jean Bramlett of Coffeeville; three sons, James C. Elliott of Amory, Jimmy H. Elliott of Batesville and Bobby Ray Elliott of Courtland; one sister, Margaret Lancaster of Moon Lake; and 24 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at National Funeral Home in Clarksdale with the Rev. Bubby Childress officiating. Burial will follow at Barbee Cemetery in Lula. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a favorite charity.
