Morning wreck at I-20, U.S. 61 sends one to hospital|CRIME & ACCIDENT

A Vicksburg woman was taken to River Region Medical Center this morning after a 4:47 a.m. wreck at U.S. 61 South and Interstate 20, said Vicksburg Fire Department records.

The condition of Jamie Engdahl, 31, 301 Harriet Ave., was unknown, said a River Region Medical Center spokesman this morning.

A Port Gibson woman was treated and released, a River Region Medical Center spokesman said this morning, following a one-car accident Sunday morning at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Old Jackson Road.

The wreck involving Melloney Hernton, 22, 1063 Tommy Dotson Road, happened at 8:34 a.m., Vicksburg Fire Department records said.

City man shot in hand while riding on Alcorn

A Vicksburg man was taken to River Region Medical Center on Saturday night after he was shot in the right hand while riding in a vehicle in the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Johnathan Armstrong, 24, 603 Florence Ave., was shot at 11:58 p.m. He was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said this morning.

No suspects have been named, Stewart said.

City man charged with felony DUI

A Vicksburg man was arrested and charged with his third offense of driving under the influence, a felony, after police pulled him over early Saturday morning at Iowa Boulevard and U.S. 61 South, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Christopher Steele, 25, 117 Dusty Road, was free on $10,000 bond.

Cars, cigarettes, TV among missing items

Cars and electronic equipment are among items reported stolen since Friday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

• A Sanyo 37-inch television valued at $695 was reported stolen Friday at 10:45 a.m. in the 800 block of Patton Street.

• A GE refrigerator valued at $500, a Highpoint flat-top stove valued at $800 and other items, including clothing, toys and books, all of an unknown value, were reported stolen Friday at 11:04 a.m. from a self-storage unit in the 2400 block of North Frontage Road.

• A silver 2003 Cadillac CTS with Mississippi personalized tag FDM was reported stolen Saturday at 7 a.m. in the 500 block of Bowmar Avenue. The car was valued at $24,000.

• A blue 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier with Mississippi tag WAT 418 was reported stolen Saturday at 8:47 a.m. in the 700 block of North Poplar Street. At 11:15 a.m., police recovered the vehicle on Manor Drive.

• A white 2006 Chevrolet Impala with Mississippi tag 291 AEI was reported stolen Sunday at 9:55 p.m. in the 4000 block of Washington Street.

• Ten cartons of Kool cigarettes valued at $320, two boxes of Black and Mild cigars valued at $72, one carton of Kool 100s valued at $32 and five cartons of Double Diamond cigarettes valued at $50 were reported stolen this morning at 5:52 from the Smoke Break Shell, 3414 U.S. 61 South.

Vicksburg man treated, released after bike wreck

A Vicksburg man was in fair condition this morning, a River Region Medical Center spokesman said, after he hit a parked car Friday with his motorcycle.

The accident involving Lafane Mixon, 34, 608 Briarfield Drive, was reported at 5:01 p.m. in the 2500 block of Franklin Street, said Vicksburg Fire Department records.
