William Henry Warren

Services for William Henry “Lasses” Warren will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 900 First North St., with the Rev. Denny Allman officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lake-view Memorial Funeral Home with family hour from 6 until 7.

Mr. Warren died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 84.

Mr. Warren was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. He was a retired career truck driver for Arkansas Best Freight and an Army veteran. He was a member of Paragon Masonic Lodge No. 7 and Tyner-Ford American Legion Post 213.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Pearl Dixon Warren; four wives, Ruby Warren, Thelma Warren, Eunice Warren and Christine Warren; eight sisters, Mary Johnson, Doretha Jackson, Emma Elliot, Lorraine McAlpin, Alma Brown, Clara Dupree, Lucille Hampton and Lula Jones; two brothers, Johnny Warren and Ruben Warren Sr.; and a stepson, Ronnie Owens.

Survivors include two daughters, Gwendolyn Alexander  of Los Angeles and Patricia Player of Detroit; three sons, William Warren Jr. of Detroit, Glennard Warren  of Vicksburg and Rance Warren of Baton Rouge; one stepdaughter, Karen Ortiz of Philadelphia; five stepsons, Charles Perkins of Long Beach, Calif., Joseph Perkins of Orange, Calif., and Keith Shaffer, Terry Shaffer and Chad Shaffer, all of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
