Jewel Scott

Jewel Scott died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at her residence in Brandon. She was 97.

Mrs. Scott was born in Midnight, Miss., and lived in Vicksburg most of her life and a resident of Brandon for the past several years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Scott Sr.; a son, Harry L. Scott Jr.; and a sister, Thursa Poythress.

Survivors include a daughter, Thursa Mae Westcott and her husband, Eddie, of Utica; a son, John L. Scott and his wife, Nora, of Brandon; one niece, Janice Clark of Alexander, Va.; one nephew, Jimmy Poythress of Willow Springs, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. David Warren and the Rev. David Harrison officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Jordan, Warren Wilson, Pat Pattison, Ben Whatley, Carl Terry Hudson and Chris Ratliff.
