A Jackson man wanted by the U.S. Secret Service and Madison County Sheriff’s Office was picked up in Warren County, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

Milton Johnson, 41, 3321 N. Downing St., was arrested by Deputy Jason Bailess around 4:50 p.m. Thursday, following a day-long search by Secret Service, Madison County and Warren County authorities. Pace said Johnson was wanted on identity theft and fraud warrants, but did not know specifics of the case.

“Our agency was only involved in the search for Johnson, but not the investigation,” said Pace. “Authorities had reason to believe he was in Vicksburg, and, after they had looked for him all day, Deputy Bailess just happened to spot a vehicle matching the description on 61 north. He pulled him over and took him into custody.”

Pace said Johnson spent Thursday night in the Warren County Jail, but was taken to the Madison County Jail Friday morning. He remained in the Madison jail Friday night.

Two arrests reported by police, deputies

In arrests Friday by city and county authorities:

• Timothy Washington, 27, 520 Bowmar Ave., was arrested by Vicksburg police around 11:20 a.m. on a grand larceny charge. He was released on a $5,000 bond.

• Wallace Banks, 26, 1140 Grange Hall Road, was arrested by Warren County sheriff’s deputies around 11:30 a.m. on a drug court violation. He was being held for 24 hours.

In Warren County Circuit Court:

• Dee Leach, 21, 1201 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was sentenced Aug. 22 to five years in prison stemming from a felony malicious mischief charge. However, Judge Isadore Patrick found Leach eligible for Drug Court, and prison time was suspended pending completion of the program. Leach was fined $5,222.81 and ordered to complete a GED within one year of the sentencing date.
