Spratley, Brooks to wed at Cool Springs Church

The engagement of Edna L. Spratley to David L. Brooks, both of Vicksburg, is announced today. The wedding will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 25, 2008, at Cool Springs M.B. Church in Kings. A reception will follow at the Kings Empowerment Center.

All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Spratley is the daughter of Lucy Sims and the late George Spratley Sr. of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Roosevelt and Pinkye Searcey, the late Thomas Spratley and the late Carrie Pearson, all of Vicksburg.

Mr. Brooks is the son of the late David Johnson and the late Martha Brooks, both of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of the late Roosevelt Pampley and the late Elizabeth Smith, both of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and Future Business Leaders of America.

She received a bachelor of science degree in business from Alcorn State University, where she was on the dean’s list.

Miss Spratley is a financial analyst at DiamondJacks Casino and Hotel.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Vicksburg High School, where he played men’s basketball.

He attended Hinds Community College and Tougaloo College, where he was on the basketball team.

Mr. Brooks is assistant security supervisor at DiamondJacks Casino and Hotel.
