Lem Conner Sr.

Lem “Lembo” Conner Sr. died today, Sept. 12, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.

Mr. Conner was a 1974 graduate of McCall High School in Tallulah, where he was on the football team. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in 1978. A veteran of the Army, he was a member of Cool Springs M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richmon Smith Sr.; a brother, Richmon Smith Jr.; two sisters, Gloria Jean Conner and Edith Mae Conner; and his grandparents, including Alice White and Esau Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda Williams Conner; two sons, Derrick Williams of Monroe and Lem Conner Jr. of Vicksburg; seven daughters, Lynlemda Conner and Niesha Jones, both of Vicksburg, Alanna Barnette, LaTonya Barnette and Sharon Barnette, all of Tallulah, and Kemetra Doby and Colemra Ellis, both of Houston, Texas; his mother,  Edith Mae Jones Conner of Tallulah; two brothers, Roy Lee Conner Sr. of Vicksburg and James Conner Sr. of Houston; one sister, Anita Jones Martin of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Marie Williams of Vicksburg.
