Ronnie F. and Linda D. McGowan of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Rebecca, to Paul Patrick Powers. Mr. Powers is the son of Hattie M. Powers of Tallulah and the late Donald W. Powers.

Miss McGowan is the granddaughter of Robert P. Sr. and Clover M. Dowe of Utica and the late Betty L. McGowan of Hattiesburg.

Mr. Powers is the grandson of the late James Wright and Aline Hopkins Powers and the late Robert Lee and Louise Emma Wilson Mayberry, all of Tallulah.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of FTA, Choices, Big Blue flag corps, Total Sound, choir, Student Council and the softball team.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and College Republicans.

Miss McGowan is a teacher at Warren Central High School.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Tallulah Academy, where he was a member of the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association, 4-H and Student Council.

He is a graduate of Northeast Louisiana Vocational College and is a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic. He graduated as a certified firefighter from the Mississippi State Fire Academy.

Mr. Powers is a Safety Department representative for Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc.

The wedding will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 18, 2008, at Wilsonwood Lodge. A reception will follow.
