VCC hosting golf tournaments

• A four-ball tournament is scheduled for Sept. 27 and 28 at Vicksburg Country Club. Deadline to register is Sept. 25.

Clear Creek Men’s Senior Golf Association

A tournament is scheduled for Clear Creek Golf Course on Thursday with tee-time at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

A signup sheet is in the clubhouse or call players can call the clubhouse and ask that a name be added to the sheet. Deadline to register is Tuesday.

Clear Creek Ladies weekly golf report

On Sept. 17 and Sept. 20, the ladies of Clear Creek will play a game of “Odd Front-Even Back.” Check-in time is at 8 a.m., with tee off at 8:30 on Wednesday. On Saturday, check-in is at 9:30 a.m. and tee time is 10.

VSO schedules Division II tryouts

The Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s Division II tryouts are scheduled for Friday and Sunday at the Bovina complex.

On Friday, the under-10 boys and girls will be at 4 p.m.; under 12 boys and girls at 5 p.m.; and under-14 boys and girls at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the under-10 boys and girls will be at 2 p.m.; under 12 boys and girls at 3 p.m.; and under-14 boys and girls at 4 p.m. A third tryout will be announced later.

Warren Central hosting golf tryouts

Tryouts for WC’s golf team will be Sept. 22-24, at 4 p.m. each day at Clear Creek Golf Course. Players should bring a completed physical form and their own clubs. For information, call coach Jesse Johnson at 601-831-0184.

Clear Creek hosts junior tournaments

Clear Creek Golf Course will host a fall junior tournament series. Competitive nine-hole tournaments will be held every Thursday at 3:30, through Oct. 30. Points will be awarded based on finish within an age group, and trophies will be awarded to the top performers.

Bayou Bengals hosting meeting

The LSU Bayou Bengal Booster Club of Mississippi will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at The Bon Ami, on the corner of Northside Drive and I-55 in Jackson. A dutch-treat meal will be served. The program will be a preview of the Auburn game.

Junior high, JV football report

WC 20, Brandon 6 – Willie Fields scored three touchdowns to lead Warren Central’s ninth-grade team past Brandon in its season opener. Fields scored on runs of 1 and 22 yards, as well as a 42-yard reception. Beau Wallace scored on a 2-point conversion.

WC will host Clinton on Monday at 6 p.m.
