Achievements

• Lorraine Lin of Warren Central High School has been named a Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program recipient. The federally-funded and state-administered program is designed to recognize exceptional high school seniors who show promise of continued excellence in postsecondary education. She will receive a scholarship award of $1,500 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

• Michele Albritton Ricker, formerly of Vicksburg, has been named education academic adviser at Mississippi State University’s Meridian campus. She will work with incoming education majors, evaluate transcripts and help students plan their courses of study to fulfill requirements for degrees in elementary and secondary education. She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mississippi College and her master’s degree in business administration from MSU-Meridian. She and her husband, Mike, have two daughters.

• Members of Girl Scout Troop 934 from Vicksburg who participated and won in multiple competitions at the Die Hard Girl Scout Roundup at Camp Coleman in Trussville, Ala., were Stephanie Roach, Erin Fordice, Adria Piazza, Alaina Fordice and Katelyn Brock.
